Trying to figure out what I have

Postby Incognito on Wed Jan 20, 2010 9:38 pm

Hello everybody
I am trying to figure out what kind of bicycle I have. I found it in a relative's house while cleaning it out after hurricane katrina. It says Raleigh Professional. It has a 531 frame and is powder blue. I think it is from the late 1970's. It doesn't fit me (I am too tall for it), but does anybody know if it worth selling?
Thanks
Matt

Oh sorry, found some other information, it says "Carlton" on the rear frame tube, and the serial number is WB8006466. Don't know what this means...

It is very valuable. I can't say for sure, but find a few Raleigh Professionals on ebay and craigslist, and see what they sell for. This was the top of the line for Raleigh for many years.

You could even get more money if you disassemble it and sell the frame and components separately, though that takes more work. The components are highly coveted.

Alternately, you could ride it and learn about road riding. You'll love it.
