Brompton Bikes

Brompton Bikes for Sale

Andrew Ritchie, Brompton's creator, first began crafting Brompton Bikes in the mid 1970s. He was able to come up with a compact bike that could fold up successfully into a small, compact size. At first the bicycles were quite heavy, but the fold design was truly remarkable. Ritchie continued to manufacture the Brompton Bikes one by one, but getting the company to grow was a challenge. Still, by the late 1980s the company was doing major production. The business has become the largest volume manufacturer of bicycles in the United Kingdom. These Brompton Bikes are compact wonders that make storage easy as well trasportation, and they are strong yet lightweight with a tight-fit fold.

Brompton Bikes for Convenience

The weight varies in the different models, but the heaviest is under 30 pounds. Sturdy frame and superb alignment, Brompton Bikes are excellent for exercise, for taking long tours and journeys, or packing into the trunk of the car for a summer trip. Since they are lightweight and simple to fold up, they can be carried into a bus or metro train for handy transport. Then, at the destination, whether it be work, home or hotel room, the foldable bike can fit neatly under a desk, in a closet, or stored in a cabinet.

Brompton Bikes and the Fold

With just a little practice, Brompton bikes can be folded in less than 20 seconds and even as little as 10 seconds. The dimensions of the folded bicycle is 22.2" x 21.5" x 10.6" which is just slightly larger than the wheels themselves. Once folded, the bike stays locked in position so it will not unfold while being carried. No loose parts hang out, but the folded bike is compact and all chains, cables, lights, etc. are protected. Also, grease will not smear on any surface the folded bike may come in contact with.

Truly, these Brompton Bikes are perfect for personal transportation.
