Cyclo Cross bikes for Sale

Cyclo-Cross bikes are a specific type of bike used in cyclo-cross racing. Cyclo-cross racing has roots that can be traced back as early as the beginning of the 1900's. In 1910a Tour De France winner attributed his win to his off season training. Cyco-Cross racing typically takes place in winter or fall; the course is made of a variety of surfaces and obstacles. The rider is expected to complete many laps and will have "bunny hop" his bike which is when a rider carries the bike over obstacles before then getting back on the bike and riding to next obstacle. This type of racing emphasizes physical endurance and bike skills more other races.

Cyclo Cross bikes Bike Styles and Equipment

Cyclo-Cross bikes are similar to other types of road racing bikes. They do however, have a few differences, including; more frame clearance, reduced frame weight, knobby tires, dual pivot point brakes and a lower gear ratio. The most common frame in Cyclo-Cross bikes today is made from Carbon fiber for professional riders and steel and titanium for other riders. The frames are built to allow riders to carry the bikes easily as some races require the riders to carry the bikes many times during a race. The frame also allows for shock absorption by having a longer wheelbase and a less steep stance.

Tires are a large considering in this type of racing and tubular tires are the most popular. The goal is to get a tire that will grip at low pressure without getting a pinch flat. Due to the fact that this sport ranges courses over seasons many riders have a dry set of tires and a wet set. The ground conditions in this sport can vary and it is important for riders to have the right equipment and you will often see riders having an extra bike and extra wheels with premounted tires.
