Track Bikes for Sale

Track bikes are built for racing on an outdoor track and aerodynamics is key. The aerodynamic drag is a big issue taken into account when designing these speed bikes. Also, the sturdiness of the frame is more important than its lightness.

Track Bikes and Frame Quality

There are four basic metals that are used in the construction of the frames:

Aluminum - Aluminum is part of the boron family of elements. It has low density and is rust retardant. It is sturdy as well as lightweight.

Steel - This metal is an alloy consisting of iron and a carbon. It is extremely durable.

Titanium - This is a chemical element and can be alloyed with aluminum or other elements. It keeps corrosion in check and has superior strength.

Carbon Fiber - Carbon fiber is a combination of fibers and is both light and strong. It is much like fiberglass.

Track Bikes - Racing Track bikes races are very popular in Europe during the summer. The tracks are especially sloped and designed for track bikes. These tracks are termed, Velodromes. Grass tracks are used in Scotland for the Highland Games held there annually in the summertime.

Still, bikers all over the world do compete in track bikes races. At the summer Olympics there are ten track bikes racing events. Olympic athletes train and prepare themselves for four years to be ready to race. And there are yearly competition races to help them keep up with the sport. There is the annual UCI Track Cycling World Championships in the spring and the UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics held in the winter. Besides racing, there is also the cycling records. Athletes may compete for record setting. Distance and time are measured for records.

These track bikes are built for speed and endurance and athletes will purchase for quality and performance. Top brands require their track bikes to meet the highest performance standards.
