Macneil Bikes was started in 2000 by Canadian BMX legend Jay 'The Beast' Miron, along with business partners Darcy Saccucci and Jamie McIntosh. A press release announced the formation of the new company one day after the 2000 X games. Macneil is the maiden name of Jay's mother. Saccucci and McIntosh now run the company after Miron sold his Macneil and Ten Pack Distribution shares in March 2010.

Before Macneil Bikes

Miron and Jamie McIntosh first established UpNorth BMX Supply (a Canadian mail order bike shop) in 1997, followed by Ten Pack Distribution, World Bicycle Sports Incorporated and Chase BMX Magazine. Saccucci, one of the founders of Basic Bikes would join the team in 1998. MacNeil Bikes employs a simple two-step strategy upon which they base their success formula. According to Miron, "No copies" and "Different to be better not different to be different."

Macneil has since grown to become one of the premier companies within the BMX industry. From its Pivotal Seat System, (with its renowned saddle and seat post design) to its resistant, lightweight frames and now its stylish new Cruiser line, supported by its impressive line of matching parts and accessories; Macneil not only creates but redefines 'cutting edge' products capable of handling the frequent stresses of Freestyle, Dirt, and Street Riding.
