Pashley Bikes
Pashley Bikes for Sale
Pashley bikes are made by Pashley cycles, a company started in Digbeth, a then borough of Birmingham, England. In 1926 William Pashley opened up the shop making a host of different types of bikes. Parsley cycles dabbled in a bit of other manufacturing but was most recognized and successful for its carrier bikes.
William Pashley was a dispatch rider in World War One and also apprenticed as an engineer before starting to build Pashley bikes. Pashley made nearly ever component of their bikes in house. This made for an extreme amount of craftsmanship and innovation on the company's part. As a result Pashley bikes did not look like others and started to take on a much more unique look themselves. Pashley bikes quickly became a favorite with many carriers in the area, and were widely used for many delivery services.
About Pashley Bikes
In the 1960s Pashley bikes were responsible for supplying many of the post office bicycles and after a three way contract ended, Pashley became the exclusive provider of over 37,000 Pashley bikes to Royal Mail. However, in the mid 1960s domestic demand for bicycles was increasingly smaller and the company adapted by making car trailers found in many catalogues.
As some demand came back for bicycles, Pashley bikes started to do some different things and began using round tubes on models that most others had used square tubes on. They started to adapt some of their front loading carrier bikes to suit the other needs of the public and even created a roadster bike in the 1970s. After acquiring Gundles (a competitor in the work bike industry) Pashley bikes started to make tandem bikes, a number of different tricycles, and what would be one of their flagship models- The ladies' Classic Princess bike.
The Pashley name is known for few bikes quite like the Ladie's Classic Princess bike. This beautiful bike perfectly embodies the craftsmanship of all Pashley bikes.
