Raleigh Bikes for Sale
There are few names in the bicycle industry as familiar as Raleigh. Raleigh has been making bikes well over a century now and have come to nearly perfect some of their models. Frank Bowden purchased the company that was located on Raleigh street near the end of the 19th century and helped to grow it to what it is today. When it grew large enough, Bowden moved it off of Raleigh street and renamed the company to commemorate its original address. Through a series of growth periods, mergers, and buy outs the company has continued to grow over time, dabbling in different things here and there, and quickly became the world's largest bicycle manufacturer. Though it may not hold that title any longer it still is a more than reputable name, and it competes for more than its fair share of the industry while Raleigh bikes are still an important part of bicycling community.
About Raleigh Bikes
Perhaps one of Raleigh's more impressive and recognizable bikes was the chopper. The Raleigh Chopper came out in 1969 and was a key component of the company's survival at the time. The chopper was unique from other bikes at the time, it had a longer frame, different sized wheels, fatter tires, raised handlebars, and a few other features that truly distinguished it from the rest of the market and from many other Raleigh bikes of the time.
Raleigh bikes have long been associated with bike sport namely racing. The TI-Raleigh team of the 1970s and 1980s were perhaps the strongest evidence of this. From the mid 70s to the early 80s they laid claim to many world championship races. And in 1980 Joop Zoetemelk won the Tour de France riding one of the famous Raleigh Bikes.
Raleigh bikes even today are renowned for their abilities to perform at great capacity and for their continued strong and dependable design.
