Scott Bikes and my greatest bike pantheon:

Without a doubt, my most beloved bike of my life will probably end up being that first Huffy that my father bought me for my eighth birthday. The decals it came with were a delight to stick all over the frame. The bright, nearly neon, orange color of the frame was the perfect eye catcher for any admiring grade school boy. Finally, the shocks were a sight to behold to any young boy who figured that shocks were only for lifted pick ups and motorcycles. Though this first Huffy was my most beloved, the most functional and comfortable bike I have owned has been my Scott Spark 35. I picked up the Scott Spark 35 from a specialty store in California on my way up to Oregon for a trail riding exposition. The expo was the result of some detailed planning a national organization cooked up and I couldn't wait to see the trails they would have us riding. Back in California, I was perusing the specialty shop for almost a whole day. The owner was a really cool hippie who allowed me to test out the bikes on his track behind the shop. I tried the Scott Spark RC right before the Spark 35 and thought to myself "Wow! Almost there. I'm loving the Scott brand." After the Scott Spark 35 test ride, I knew I was in love.

The spark carbon main frame and the weight coming in under four pounds have easily been my favorite parts about this bike in the year I have been riding it. The suspension management is on one lever. I love having suspension management as a feature on a bike. This feature has easily saved me hours of adjusting before attacking different trail types. The Avid Elixir 5 disc breaks have also been a welcome safety feature.
